The Student-Researcher Collaboration Program

CANDAC researchers teamed up with students and staff at schools in Ontario and Nunavut to launch a new project that turned young students into active researchers who monitored atmospheric conditions using scientific instruments at their school. Researchers and students worked together to gather, compare and analyse data to better understand the Earth's dynamic atmosphere. Participants included CANDAC researchers from all over Canada, Ataguttaluk Elementary School student-researchers from Igloolik, Nunavut , Nakasuk School student-researchers from Iqaluit, Nunavut, Pickering College student-researchers from Newmarket, Ontario, West Preparatory Junior Public School student-researchers from Toronto, Ontario, and Qarmartalik School student-researchers from Resolute Bay, Nunavut

The CANDAC IPY Northern Experience Program

The Northern Experience Program was developed for students in grades 11 and 12 to experience Canada’s High Arctic region. Participants were escorted by CANDAC members to the High Arctic where they will spent 11 days learning about the culture, history, and scientific significance of the High Arctic with a focus on the impacts of climate change.

Fifteen students and six teachers from across Canada were chosen to participate based on their entry forms to the nation-wide Northern Experience Contest.
