WACP investigates wave signatures above PEARL and their relationship to and impact on the large scale circulation and transport. Wind, temperature and constituent signatures above PEARL are measured using a number of instruments (lidars, radar, spectrometers, interferometers and imagers) and used to determine the wave signatures from the tropopause to the mesopause. These results are placed in context using information from models, other polar observatories and satellites. Taken together, both a local and a global perspective on the coupling processes in the polar middle atmosphere are developed through this theme.
